Shelf Life / Expiration

What spoils a fragrance is temperature changes and light energy (photons). On average, a perfume will last between three and five years. If a fragrance is kept in a cool dark place, your fragrance may last forever!

Generally speaking, the higher the percentage of essential oils, the longer the fragrance will last, as essential oils do not have high concentrations of fatty compounds, as do other types of oil. Those fatty compounds are often what goes rancid, which can cause a perfume to ‘spoil.’ You will notice the scent changing, and the color darkening over time.
