Authors of perfume reviews enjoy making collection or haul videos, in order to keep their subscribers up to date with their latest purchases. One thing to notice is that such videos do not include only full bottles, but also perfume decants and samples that the reviewer discovered recently. Also in these videos, the reviewers might mention vintage perfumes. In the fragrance world, the term “vintage” has a few different meanings.

First of all, there are vintage perfumes that suffered one or more reformulations. In this case, the authors of perfume reviews will use the term “vintage” to refer to the original formulation. Changes in the formula occur when certain ingredients get banned or when the company discovers equivalent ingredients at smaller prices. In some cases, it is way less expensive to use synthetic ingredients than natural ones, but the trained noses will notice this difference. Because of this, it is often said that the vintage perfumes are the best and are frequently characterized as more potent and with a greater longevity. When there are noticeable differences between the batches, it is not possible to talk about vintage and non-vintage. However, it is important to mention that fragrance developers use natural ingredients (usually from plants), which the scent can vary depending on the season or year the plant was harvested. This may require the perfumer to reformulate a fragrance to ensure their next batch is a similar to the original as possible. Sometimes the method that the manufacturer uses to distill the ingredients into perfume oils can be inconsistent. I feel that perfume companies who cannot be consistent over a great number of batches should sometimes be avoided.

Other perfume reviews include vintage fragrances that have no longer been in production for a considerable amount of time. As time goes by, such bottles become harder to find. This is a good enough reason for some people to sell discontinued bottles at steep prices on auction sites. In order to avoid paying a large sum of money for a fragrance, people are recommended to stock up with a few bottles, even if the discontinuation is just a rumor. In fact, there are three situations when the prices of perfumes can skyrocket. Primarily, when the scent is no longer produced and it is very difficult to find and secondarily, when the fragrance is a limited edition that is equally scarce. The third situation implies niche perfumes that are highly priced from the very beginning.

Some of the vintage scents presented in perfume reviews may set people’s heart on edge. To satisfy their curiosity, fragrance aficionados should look for perfume samples and decants, provided that these are available at decent prices. In addition, they should check out perfume reviews that include more than just vintage fragrances, as the world of scents is fascinating in its entirety.

Fragrances for Rainy Spring Days

No matter how much we like a certain fragrance, we all grow bored at some point of smelling the same each and every day. Variety is the key when such a problem arises. First of all, people are recommended to have different perfumes for different seasons. More than that, for each season there should be several fragrances that are adequate for certain occasions. For example, one should have in his or her wardrobe several perfume decants for torrid summer nights and other scents for rainy spring days.

Spring is often regarded as the season when nature comes back to life. Scent-wise, it is the moment when heavy, oriental fragrances are put aside, in order to make room to lighter and greener scents. Floral perfumes are a good choice for this part of the year, but there are numerous other criteria that one should consider when choosing a spring scent.

As the temperature rises, people start wearing fewer layers of clothes, so strong projection is no longer mandatory. Moreover, as opposed to oriental fragrances, which are rather adequate for autumn and winter, spring scents are generally known not to be “projection monsters”, as perfume reviewers usually refer to the heavy ones.

Thunderstorms are not unheard of during spring, so one should make sure that his or her wardrobe includes a fragrance for such weather. If woods, amber and vanilla are the preferred notes during the cold days of autumn and winter, the fragrances for spring might include tea notes or such combinations as leather and aquatic notes. Tea is known to have a calming effect, so focusing on perfumes that include it is a great idea for rainy spring days. However, not all tea fragrances include the same type of tea. Some have a red tea note, while others have in their composition green or white tea notes. Black tea might be more suitable for autumn, as it is darker and bitterer.

In order to assure a wide enough variety of perfumes for rainy spring days, it is better to get perfume decants, rather than full bottles. By doing this, people are able to spend the same amount of money on a greater number of scents than on fewer full bottles that would take years to empty. From this point of view, perfume decants are the perfect symbol of practicality, as they allow people to enjoy a variety of different scents for each season.

Acqua Di Gioia Essenza by Giorgio Armani Perfume Review

Acqua di Gioia Essenza is a woody, floral-musk that lasts forever and has excellent projection! It can be worn all year, and in any setting.

It opens up with a very smooth, sweetened jasmine accord. The jasmine reminds me of Alien by Thierry Mugler because it is also sweetened. The cashmeran in this scent takes the jasmine to a whole new level - it makes the jasmine creamy and smooth. Acqua di Gioia also smells clean, fresh, and airy -- they say it's an aquatic but there is actually a chemically ozonic accord in the mix. The pink pepper in the scent also adds a slight depth and supports to ozonic-chemical notes.

The drydown melts into a floral-fruity spicy scent. The spice only comes from the pink pepper and a slight cedar dry down -- the cedar isn't totally there but hints at you in the scent. Its a beauty!

Armani Code is an oriental-spicy fragrance that was released in 2005. Anyone at any age can wear this all year around, but it does best during the fall and winter. This scent is great as a holiday/christmas gift because it is very pleasant and easy to wear. The fact that it's so pleasant also makes it a great office scent.
This fragrance is very versatile! It is semi-formal, so you can wear this casually or formally. For the first hour it has great projection, but after that first hour it comes very close to the skin - another reason why it's a great office scent.

This cologne opens up with a lemon and bergamot that quickly transforms into a sweet anise-like scent. There is no anise mentioned on basenotes, but its definitely in there. It is quite sweet and almost verges on being gourmand.
In the middle, it starts to get slightly powdery with a nice coffee scent that becomes quite woody with a slight smokiness that pairs with tonka bean. The tonka bean makes this fragrance have a vanillic, sweet clove vibe.

This a great scent to give as a gift because just about everyone will love it!

Subscribe to Holly: http://www.youtube.com/WineWithMeCa (let her know I sent ya! :P )

Like me: http://www.facebook.com/FragranceTalk
Tweet me: http://www.twitter.com/FragranceTalk
Google Plus: http://gplus.to/fragrancetalk
Take a picture: http://dailybooth.com/FragranceTalk

It's also amazing how a glass of wine has a unqiue scent life that changes quite dramtically while it sits in your glass. I am very glad that Prestons has an incredible wine list that Holly and I were able to try because it definitely contibuted to my smelly-wine epiphany.

Virgin Island Water by Creed is a citrus scent that was released in 2007. This tropical scent smells like a bright lime with a creamy coconut and rum accord. It's perfect for summer days and anyone, regardless of gender and age, can wear Virgin Island Water. It is great for vacations to hot tropical destinations. This perfume has moderate projection, and lasts about 4 hours. For me, it lasts 8 hours, but after the first four hours it gets very faint and close to the skin.

Think about sitting on a beach sippin' on a Pina Colada without a care in the world.
